Open Air Opera: Rigoletto

Opera Brava present Rigoletto by Verdi, performed with a chamber ensemble against the magical backdrop of the Elizabethan Mansion House.

A highlight of the summer, Britain’s leading outdoor touring company, Opera Brava, present Rigoletto by Verdi, performed with a chamber ensemble against the magical backdrop of the Elizabethan Mansion House.

Opera Brava’s thrilling new production reimagines Verdi’s masterpiece in the gritty underworld of 1920s Birmingham, drawing inspiration from the rise of the ‘slogging gangs’ – street groups that later evolved into the infamous Peaky Blinders. Set against a backdrop of power, corruption and revenge, this bold retelling brings fresh intensity to one of opera’s most dramatic tales.

Featuring a stellar cast of singers, musicians, and designers, the production is led by renowned Musical Director Robert Bottriell. Expect to be moved and captivated by Verdi’s magnificent score – with melodies you’ll instantly recognise from film and television.

Don’t miss this unforgettable night at the opera – where classic meets contemporary in spectacular fashion.
