Opera Brava bring to life two spectacular open-air opera performances accompanied by a chamber ensemble and set against the enchanting backdrop of Borde Hill’s Elizabethan House. Enjoy a gritty new production of Verdi’s Rigoletto, reimagined in the underworld of 1920s Birmingham, and Bizet’s fiery masterpiece Carmen, filled with irresistible melodies and emotionally charged drama.

Verdi’s ‘Rigoletto’
Set in the gritty underworld of 1920s Birmingham, this new production of Rigoletto draws inspiration from the rise of the ‘slogging gangs’ – street groups that later evolved into the infamous Peaky Blinders. Set against a backdrop of power, corruption and revenge, this bold retelling brings fresh intensity to one of opera’s most dramatic tales.

With its extravagant melodies and timeless arias, Carmen has captivated audiences for generations. Set against the backdrop of 1930s Spain, this gripping production follows Carmen’s entanglement in a dramatic love triangle that spirals into jealousy, passion, and betrayal.
