Finding The Right Plant For Your Home

Borde Hill Garden Festival Talk with Alice & Maddie Bailey, Forest London

The online box office has now closed for this Talk – tickets will be available on the gate, where there is availability.

How to Find the Right Plants for Your Home Environment

During this talk, unlock the secrets to perfect plant parenthood with houseplant experts Alice and Maddie Bailey from Forest London.

Finding the perfect plant for your space starts with understanding their natural environment and the climate of your home. Discover how to tell where a plant comes from by its physical features, and learn to decode a plant’s physical traits to determine its native habitat and care needs.

Alice is an RHS Tender Ornamental Plant Committee Member.

Speaker Bio - Alice & Maddie Bailey

Sisters Alice & Maddie’s love of plants started at an early age. They helped their Opa (a Dutch grower of cut flowers) on his nurseries and allotment, and their Mum (an award winning horticulturist) in the garden and with her cut flower business. Maddie also studied horticulture level 2 with the RHS.

Living in a London home with limited outdoor space, they began experimenting with indoor plants before opening their first houseplant shop, Forest, in 2013. Their first book, The Green Indoors, was published in 2021, the same year they won a Gold medal at Chelsea Flower Show for their houseplant studio.

Since then the sisters have written two more books, started to grow their own houseplants at their cut flower farm in Kent, and worked closely with the RHS (Alice is a member of the Tender Ornamental Plant Committee).
