Rose Alchemy – Aromatherapy Workshop

Capture the magic of roses by infusing, mixing and making rose-inspired skin care products to take home.
Laura Hoy - Rose Alchemy - Aromatherapy Workshop

Join us for a relaxing, hands-on workshop where you’ll capture the essence of roses. Learn to infuse oil with your favourite rose petals, blend a personalised perfume using rose and other plant-based essential oils, and craft aromatic balms to support health and wellness – all to take home.

The workshop offers a chance to truly immerse yourself in the world of roses. Discover the art of extraction, and how to make your own rose petal-infused oil, a rose massage balm, and rose-perfumed oil. Each participant will design their own products with guidance from Laura, tailored to their personal needs, and will leave with their creations to enjoy at home.

As part of the workshop, we will enjoy a short walk through Borde Hill’s stunning Rose Garden in bloom, where we’ll use pruning shears to collect a few samples for the infusions. Please dress appropriately for the weather.

Holding this workshop at Borde Hill allows us to connect to many of the plants that yield the ingredients we will use in our plant infusions. The ingredients will be of the highest quality and organic where possible.

The workshop is open to everyone, and no prior experience is required. All materials will be provided, though you may wish to bring your own notebook and pen. There will be a short break for lunch (not included in the ticket price).

Your ticket includes:

  • Workshop inside the Garden Marquee and all materials
  • Rose-inspired products, using the highest quality botanical ingredients and organic essential oils, to take home
  • A welcome drink on arrival
  • Garden entry to explore the beauty of summer following your workshop

About Laura Hoy

Presented by Laura Hoy, who completed her training with Neal’s Yard Remedies in 2009 and there began her ongoing adventure with nature and nurturing and a renewed awareness of her sense of smell. As she began sharing her expertise by way of workshops, retreats and private consultations she wanted to make each experience sensual for her clients, always bringing along fragrant plant material or hosting at venues with a connection to essential oil yielding plants, such as beautiful gardens!

Sourcing scented roses however can be awkward, and even trickier is finding those that are not sprayed with chemicals during their growing cycle. A love affair with growing and smelling roses as well as capturing their scent became a little more than a hobby – so it is an absolute joy for her to bring ‘Rose Alchemy’.

Testimonials:

“This workshop is truly unique, fun and well worth treating yourself to if you want to smell and feel totally gorgeous! Heather Di Marino

“I have just attended one of Laura’s workshops where we made our own perfumes using her essential oils with the support of her wealth of knowledge on the oil’s properties and the best way to blend the oils we individually chose to make up. It was such a beautiful morning, Laura is a great facilitator allowing us to be led to make our own choices entirely – all the perfumes we made were so unique to each individual person – no doubt responding to our particular needs at the time. I came away with two beautiful perfume blends and a great respect for Laura’s knowledge and her gentle presence. Thank you Laura.” Debra S, Australia
