An invitation to slow down and immerse yourself in nature
Join us for this gentle Forest Bathing experience that is designed to offer you the opportunity to slow down and connect with nature and to experience the woodland in a slightly different way to what you may be used to.
Forest Bathing – also known as “Shinrin-Yoku” – originated in Japan and simply translated it means “bathing under the canopy of trees” for health and wellbeing.
What to expect:
You will be guided on a gentle walk under the canopy of trees amongst beautiful woodland in Borde Hill’s heritage-listed South Park.
At the beginning of the session we will share some of the science that shows why time with trees is so good for us, including research into the surprising secret benefits of breathing woodland air. Then, as we move slowly through the woods you’ll be guided through a series of sensory exercises designed to help you tune in to the natural environment and in doing so begin to calm your body and mind.
Towards the end of the session there will be a guided relaxation and we will conclude by sharing a refreshing herbal tea underneath the tree canopy.
There is a growing body of scientific research that shows the positive effects of spending mindful time in nature on our mental and physical health – but don’t take our word for it – why not experience it for yourself?
“Bringing our rhythms into step with nature allows us to draw on the vast array of benefits the natural world provides” – Dr Qing Li. Associate Professor at Nippon Medical School Tokoyo.

About Sarah
Sarah is a qualified Forest Bathing guide (with the Forest Bathing Institute)
She has a love of the outdoors and is never happier than spending time out in the elements and it is this love of nature that drew her to become a Forest Bathing Guide. “I think of my role as a Forest Bathing guide as being a sort of intermediary between the woods and the participants – inviting people to slow down and tune into the natural world in a different way, to develop a new relationship with it – and perhaps with themselves”.
As someone who often struggles to slow down and to stay in the present moment experience, Sarah regards herself very much as a “work in progress” when it comes to the practice of mindfulness and she brings compassion and curiosity, as well as a light hearted energy, to her work guiding groups. Sarah is also a Professional Certified Coach (ICF) specialising in leadership and career transitions and where ever possible she takes her coaching work outside because of the reviving and energising effect it has on her clients and the richness it adds to the coaching experience.
