Visionary Landscapes Ink and Wash Workshop
Join artist Eleanor May Watson for a relaxed morning of drawing and painting inspired by the rich atmospheric landscapes of British Romantic painter and printmaker Samuel Palmer.
Taking inspiration from the changing season, Eleanor will guide you through translating seedheads, fallen leaves, gnarled branches and the low golden light of an English autumn garden into expressive ink and wash artwork.
You will explore ways of building texture, depth and mood using ink, dip pens and watercolour, while developing your own interpretation of the landscape. With Eleanor’s guidance, you will have the opportunity to experiment with materials, learn new techniques and create an atmospheric piece of artwork to take home.
The morning will begin with tea, coffee and bakes at Restaurant Isca, followed by an introduction to the Turning Light exhibition and Eleanor’s artwork on display. The practical workshop will then take place in The Stables Workshop.
Whether you are looking to develop your artistic practice or simply enjoy a thoughtful morning of creativity, this workshop offers a chance to pause, observe the changing season and try something new.

During the Workshop you’ll:
- Explore the expressive qualities of ink, dip pens and watercolour.
- Learn how to capture the texture and atmosphere of an autumn landscape.
- Take inspiration from seedheads, leaves, branches and the changing light.
- Experiment with layering, mark-making and tonal contrast.
- Receive guidance from artist Eleanor May Watson.
- Create your own ink and wash landscape to take home.

About Eleanor May Watson
She received an MA at City and Guilds of London Art School in 2019, completed the Drawing Year at the Royal Drawing School in 2016, and received a BA at Wimbledon Art School in 2012. Her work has been included in several group shows including Table Manners curated by Pia Sophie Ottes at Barbati Gallery (Venice 2026), Drawn Together at The Royal Drawing School (London 2025), Troublemakers and Prophets: Elizabeth Allen and Other Visionary Artists at Compton Verney Museum, (Warwickshire 2026), All This Wrath at Blue Shop Galleries (London 2024).
Recent solo exhibitions include There Is No Time Like Spring at Soho Revue (London 2026) and A Few Shells with Brocket Gallery at General Assembly, London (2024). Her work is held in private collections including Soho House, Dumfries House Collection (UK), Foundation Derbyshire (UK) and University of the Arts London (UK).
